A quick update...

Just letting everyone know that I have new work that will appear in the December issues of Highlights for Children and Sparkle Magazine. Do have a look if you come across either one, as I'm very excited about these latest pieces. It was fantastic to work with both publications!

Happy early Turkey Day, all!

White Magazine and move to Atlanta

Hello, all! My apologies for the lack of updates, as I've spent the last week transitioning into a new location: Atlanta! I am now working by day as a creative designer and illustrator at a kids' and family marketing company. Of course, I will still be doing freelance work, maintaining my Etsy shop, and taking commissions. Above are three of my newer illustrations that were recently published in the Australian bridal publication, White. If you're down under, pick up a copy and have a look!

With Thanksgiving around the corner, I'd like to wish everyone a wonderful holiday season! Atlanta has been a big adjustment, but I've already met some wonderful people, especially my new co-workers. To all of you in Savannah, I miss you all very much!!

Latest work

Three new pieces. More to come!

Some pleasant, Fall-ish weather (as in 85 degrees instead of 99 degrees) has finally arrived in Savannah, and I'm enjoying it so much! It's really inspiring me.

Oh, and if you haven't seen the movie (500) Days of Summer
yet, make sure you do! It's terrific! Zooey Deschanel is my favorite actress.

SCAD 2009 Fashion Show

I'd like to congratulate all the students whose work was showcased in this year's SCAD Fashion Show! I was honored to work on the show yesterday, along with my co-workers. I must say, I think the show was a huge success. All the garments and accessories looked spectacular, and the opening dance routine was stunning. I think that Ruben and Isabel Toledo were very deserving of the Andre Leon Talley Lifetime Achievement award; their story was both touching and inspiring.

You can watch the show here.

Once again, kudos to the SCAD Fashion department and its very talented students!

New work unveiled!

Here's what I've been working on the past few weeks...these are three of the illustrations I have done as an approach to the editorial market (specifically, magazines for teenage girls). Despite the leaps and bounds I've taken stylistically by doing these, I'm very pleased with them!

Lil' Spot Illustration

Here is a little spot illustration that I took out of my overall greeting card designs (which are very nearly finished!). I'm trying to decide what to do with these little vignettes, other than adding them to my portfolio. Enjoy!

Paper dolls/Smooth Show recap

Here's a rather brief look at a new promotional piece I'm doing, which will be a seasonal series of paper dolls that I will be e-mailing out to clients and contacts. Maybe you'll get one?

In other news, the reception for my show at Cafe Smooth was a great success on Friday night! Again, I want to extend a special thanks to Susan Jaffie for making it possible!! Also, many, many, thanks to EVERYONE who came out to the event!! I was so happy to see such a big turnout. The art will be hanging through June 1st.

What's in the works!

I'm currently working on some illustrations geared toward the teenage market, the above being one of my favorites that's in progress (it's based on an article on apricot-colored cosmetics and their popularity this season). It still has a way to go, but I'm happy with what I've accomplished with this set so far (there will be a total of eight).

Enjoy the (hopefully) sunny weather this weekend!!

Self Portrait and Smooth Update

Hi, all! Sorry for the little hiatus. Things have been quite busy, and in a short time I will have tons of new art to show you! Above is my most recent piece, a promotional self-portrait mailer than I am doing as part of a group project under the instruction of the wonderful Violet Lemay. We'll be sending this out to reps and other contacts, including Anna Goodson! Hooray!

Again, if you are in Savannah, don't forget to come to Cafe Smooth located on Bull Street (just off of Wright Square) this Friday, May 1st, between 5pm and 7pm for my illustration show's reception! There will be free snacks, prints and originals for sale, and much more!

Hope to see you there!

Greeting Cards: Early Stages

Here is a little sneak peek at two of the greeting cards that I have in the works, as they exist as of now...there will be at least ten, and I'm very excited to unveil them! They'll be available in the shop by June.

Despite the whirlwind of activity these past couple of weeks, I'm feeling very energized and I am so happy to see consistent Spring weather here in Savannah!

Excitement!

Newest Piece

Here is my newest illustration, created especially for my new promo mailers! I'm especially pleased with the way the back of the card turned out. Maybe you'll be getting one in the mail?

Prints of this will be in the shop very soon!

The Smooth Show is up!

I am very excited to announce that my little solo show is on display at Cafe Smooth on Bull Street in Savannah, GA through June 1st! We will be having a little opening reception on May 1st complete with hummus, drinks, etc. Please stop by and check out the art!

Many thanks to Susan at Smooth for letting me display at her cafe. =)

I'm adding a couple of new prints to the shop in the next couple of days, so keep an eye out!

I apologize for the slower activity, as I have a lot of commissions coming in, in addition to my regular workload at my day job and as I finish up grad school. I'll be posting as often as possible, though!

Show @ Cafe Smooth!

I'd like to proudly announce my upcoming art show at Cafe Smooth here in Savannah, Georgia! The show will be displayed April 1st- May 31st, 2009. If you've never been to Smooth, do stop in! They're located on Bull Street between Oglethorpe and York. Here is their website...home to the greatest smoothie on the planet (my personal favorite is the "Blueberry Thrill").

I will have a total of twenty original framed illustrations on display and available to purchase. This piece, among many others, will be on display in a vintage frame.

Hope you can check it out!! I'll be posting pictures once the art is hanging.
