Just a little sketch...I've been playing around with colored pencils (a medium I haven't touched in years).

Oldies

I rarely like to show old work, but while organizing my studio this morning I stumbled upon the back-up CDs which contained the children's book I created for my book illustration class in college. I feel like this book was the turning point for my illustration style, so despite how different it is from my current work, it's special to me. I dedicated it to my high school French teacher, and she owns the only printed, bound copy of it. I thought I'd share a few pages of this project (which I plan on re-writing and re-illustrating in the future) before going outside to paint and relish the beautiful, Spring-like weather we're having in the South this weekend. I hope you enjoy these!

2/2/11 - Staff picks!

Today I discovered that two of my t-shirt designs ("Macarons" and "For the Dog Enthusiast") available in my Skreened shop were chosen as Staff Picks! Many thanks to Skreened staffer Lauren for choosing them!

So I've always considered joining a site like CafePress, but I found one that suits me even better! I now have a shop on Skreened, and I've uploaded a wide variety of images that can be ordered on t-shirts, hoodies, baby clothing, and totes bags. Have a look and see if there's something that strikes your fancy! I think I might even order a shirt or two!

Macarons

...so delicious, but so difficult to make!! Luckily, Crumb Bakery here in Atlanta makes some amazing ones, which inspired this image!

This is also my submission to Illustration Friday this week. I like to participate whenever possible, and I felt sweets easily fell into the subject of resolutions...as in, my New Year's resolution to eat healthier and be more active!

Recent watercolors

...a little portrait of our cat and an enormous street scene in a vintage frame to adorn our living room wall. Whenever I pick up my brush, I'm always pleasantly reminded of how therapeutic it is to paint with watercolors!
